Getting Started
The first session is about getting a clear picture of what's going on for you. We'll talk about what brought you in, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy.
Many clients see meaningful progress in 8–12 sessions. Others prefer to continue longer. We'll set clear goals early so you always know where we're headed — and when we're done.
Every session has a purpose. I use evidence-based methods (CBT, ACT, SFBT) because they actually work — and I'll tell you what we're doing and why. More detail on the My Approach page.
That's probably the most common thing I hear. My approach is specifically designed to be different — structured, direct, and goal-oriented. Book a free 15-minute call and see for yourself before committing to anything.
I read and answer every message myself — usually within a day. No assistants, no auto-replies, no newsletters. We'll figure out the next step together, whether that's a free consultation, a first session, or just an answer to your question.

Yes — a 15-minute call, no strings attached. You share what's going on, I share how I work, and we decide together if it's a good fit. No pitch, no pressure.
Card, HSA, or FSA — therapy is a qualified medical expense, so most HSA/FSA cards work. Payment is handled securely through the client portal at the time of your session.
Life happens — just give me 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a $50 fee.
Insurance
I'm currently out-of-network with most insurance providers — but that doesn't mean you pay everything out of pocket. Many major plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, SelectHealth, and others) cover a portion of out-of-network therapy. Many of my clients get 40–70% reimbursed.
An itemized receipt with the diagnostic and procedure codes your insurance needs for out-of-network reimbursement. I provide one automatically after every session — you just submit it to your insurer.
Call the member-services number on your insurance card and ask two questions: "Does my plan cover out-of-network outpatient psychotherapy?" and "What's my out-of-network deductible and reimbursement rate?" Five minutes, and you'll know exactly what to expect. Happy to walk you through it — just ask.
Staying out-of-network means insurance companies don't dictate how many sessions you get, which diagnosis goes on your record, or how we work. Your treatment plan is decided by you and me — nobody else.
Credentials & Experience
I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Master's in Clinical Psychology, licensed to practice in both Utah and Michigan. I'm EMDR trained (Level I), trained in CBT and ACT, and practice trauma-informed care.
Over a decade in clinical practice, with hundreds of clients across trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationships, and high-stress careers. I've worked with people who were skeptical, people who were desperate, and everything in between.
Yes. Regular continuing education in CBT, ACT, EMDR, and emerging evidence-based approaches. Staying sharp matters — you deserve a therapist who's still learning.
Logistics & Locations
I split my time between two home bases: Park City, Utah and Midland, Michigan. I see clients in person in both, and I'm licensed in both states — so telehealth is available wherever you are in Utah or Michigan.
Yes — statewide across both Utah and Michigan, at the same rates as in-person. Many clients find telehealth just as effective, and a lot more convenient. All you need is a private space and a screen.
Use the secure client portal to request a time, or send me a message and we'll find one together.
Just
Ask.
No question is too small — and asking costs nothing. I answer every message myself.
