You've already taken a giant step by being here. I work with real people on real problems — and I have as much to learn from my clients as I have to teach them. Let's figure out what's going on and build a clear path forward.
Dear future client,
If you're reading this, you're probably on the fence about therapy. Maybe someone told you to try it, maybe you've tried before and it didn't work, or maybe you just know something needs to change but you're not sure this is the answer.
I want to be straight with you: therapy isn't magic, and I'm not going to pretend it is. What I can tell you is that the work we do here is structured, evidence-based, and designed to get you somewhere — not keep you coming back forever.
I've been doing this for over a decade. I've worked with people who were skeptical, people who were desperate, and everything in between. The common thread is that they showed up. That's all I ask.
If you have questions, ask them. If you're not sure, that's fine — book a free 15-minute call and we'll figure it out together. No pitch, no pressure.
— Josh

“It’s great talking to someone that is not biased and you don’t get favoritism when trying to make decisions. EMDR was huge for me and has made the biggest difference. This was life changing for me and sometimes it may have saved my life.”
Here's what makes working with me different from what you might have experienced before.
Every session has an agenda. We'll start by checking in on your progress, work on the day's focus, and end with clear next steps.
I use CBT, ACT, and solution-focused therapy because decades of research show they work. You'll always know what technique we're using and why.
We set concrete goals early and track them. You'll never wonder if therapy is 'working' — we'll have data.
I'll tell you what I see, challenge you when needed, and celebrate real wins. No nodding along or asking 'and how does that make you feel?'
You'll get session notes, action items, and brief check-ins between appointments. Growth happens between sessions, not just during them.
Therapy isn't forever. We work toward specific goals, and when you've built the skills you need, we wrap up. Average: 8-16 sessions.
I don't use one-size-fits-all therapy. Your treatment plan is built around methods with real evidence behind them — tailored to what you're dealing with.
Identifies and restructures negative thought patterns. The most studied therapy method in existence — and the backbone of my practice.
Builds psychological flexibility. Instead of fighting your thoughts, you learn to hold them differently and take action aligned with your values.
Focuses on solutions rather than problems. We identify what's already working and build from there — often producing faster results.
Evidence-based mindfulness techniques integrated into sessions. Not meditation for meditation's sake — practical tools for managing stress and anxiety.
For clients who feel ambivalent about change. A collaborative approach that helps you find your own motivation and commitment.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for trauma processing. Available for clients where traditional talk therapy alone isn't enough.
Every service is grounded in evidence-based methods. But more importantly, every service starts with listening to what you actually need.
One-on-one sessions where we do the real work. We set goals, track progress, and adjust as you grow.
Meeting young people where they are. Identity, family, school, social challenges — with honesty and respect.
For when past experiences are running the show in the present. Structured, safe, evidence-based.
Skeptical of counseling? That's ok. Real work that makes a real difference while staying true to who you are.
Alcohol, pornography, gambling. We work on the behavior and what's driving it.
Same real work, from anywhere in Utah. All you need is a private space and a screen.
Therapy with me follows a clear process. You'll always know where you are and where we're headed.
A 15-minute call. You share what's going on, I share how I work. We decide together if it's a good fit. No pressure.
We go deep. Your history, what's happening now, what you want to change. I start building a picture of what's going on.
By session 2-3, you'll have a clear plan: what we're working on, which methods we'll use, how we'll know it's working.
Weekly or biweekly sessions. Every session has a purpose. You'll get tools to practice between sessions — because growth happens outside my office too.
Regular progress check-ins. We adjust the plan as needed. Therapy should evolve as you do.
When you've hit your goals and built the skills you need, we wrap up. My goal is to make myself unnecessary.
